X & Y: One of the Biggest Hits from Coldplay

This was the third album which was released by Coldplay in 2005. Now the band spent a lot of time when it came to composing this album. They wanted this album to be “the best thing anyone has ever heard”. Now eighteen months went into making this album. They wrote 60 songs and discarded 52 of them.

Now the lead single of this album has to be “Speed of Sound” which is a lot like “Clocks” but is more of a more mature and well tuned version. Now the next song called “Square one” is also like a bold step for the band. Now you can see bits and parts of musicality coming from U2 in this album. This song, the main rhythm sounds a lot like Unforgettable Fire, by U2.

Now this album is a notch higher than the rest. The song of this album has actually turned out really beautiful. But then although this was the case, the band also received a lot of criticism. They were criticized since the “Speed of Sound” sounded a lot like clocks and due to a lot of U2’s essence in the album, some people said it wasn’t original enough.

Some magazines even called it “something less exciting” when compared to its previous album, “A Rush of Blood to the Head”. Also some also said that the songs didn’t “Take flight”. But then at the end of the day, the album is filled with the Coldplayish ballads.

Never the less, this album still got the band quite a few awards. They won the Best British Album in 2006 at the BRIT award ceremony. It even landed them up with a JUNO award for the Best Album of the year. It had even gotten nominated for a Mercury Award. The bigger nomination was for the Best Rock Album which was at the Grammys but then ironically it lost to How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb which was by U2.

But overall, if you’re a hardcore fan of this band then you’re bound to love this album. You see a lot of different styles used in this album and a bit more experimentation. Songs like “Fix you”, “A message” and “The hardest part” will keep you glued to this album forever. The band didn’t also deviate a lot from its usual genre and style so this is just like any other brilliant Coldplay album.

U2 – An Irish Rock Band

U2, an Irish rock band came into existence in the year 1972 when the band members Bono, Adam Clayton, The Edge, and Larry Mullen Jr. were just teens and had a very limited musical competency and skills. Despite of that, the band released several hit albums by mid of 1980’s and they became an international sensation. In 1987, U2 released The Joshua Tree album which helped them to elevate their status from just heroes to superstars of rock music.

From the year 1990, the band persuaded an alternative rock and dance revolution in their work and under this revolution, they launched Achtung Baby album accompanied with Zoo TV Tour.

Later from the year 2000, they started to respond to more conventional rock music approach which certainly helps to retain the charm and tempt of their previous contributions to the music world.

Till now, U2 has successfully released twelve albums which include:

Not only this, the band also has won twenty two Grammy Awards, which is quite more as compared to any other international artist or band.

U2 fans can expect another album of the band under the name ‘Songs of Ascent’ most probably by the end of this year. The theme as confirmed by the lead singer Bono, will be of pilgrimage and meditation.

Michael Jackson’s New Movie

Michael Jackson has a new movie. Yes. You read it right. Michael Jackson will be launching his new movie this 30th of October 2009. The movie is all about the latest footage of the practices that Michael Jackson attended with during the rehearsals for his “This Is It” concert. MJ died a tragic and unexpected death a few months ago. His death has put people into a shock because the legendary King of Pop is already gone—too soon.

Because of the love that so many fans all around the globe have for Michael Jackson, his movie will surely hit the theatre. Rumors of Sony spending about $60 million for the rights of the last video rehearsal of Michael Jackson have been circulating the Internet and the newspapers as well. This information adds up to the excitement and controversy that surrounds the life of MJ in general. Now, the question is whether or not the movie will be shown continuously in theatres or just like Michael Jackson, it will simply air in a couple of weeks and the mystery will leave the fans hanging.
Well, in reality, this so-called movie is not really a movie per se. It is not the same as with the movie being produced in Hollywood where there is a storyline, plot, characters, conflict and resolution. This is just a behind-the-scenes compilation of the preparation of the “This Is It” concert where MJ was last seen alive. Nevertheless, regardless of whether or not this movie will look like the one produced by Steven Spielberg or not, this will surely make millions: collector’s item indeed. Fans should expect as well a limited airing time for the movie in preparation for DVDs or VCD or whatever can be added to MJ’s fans’ collections. Let us all wait in great excitement.

Kid Rock – July 21

Have you heard about Kid Rock? He was one of my favorite singers, and he rocked the house! Yeah! I am really shocked that my friend actually told me that Kid Rock was coming to Detroit, and since I can’t believe it, I look around and ask if Kid Rock was really coming to Detroit, until I found an ad posted in the wall about Kid Rock is coming to Detroit. Wow! he will be doing his concert at the Comerica Park, and I immediately bought a ticket with my friend before all the tickets ran out. It was scheduled on July 21, and I can’t wait on that day. Me and my friend were already there earlier than the scheduled time, so that we will occupy our own seats together, just to see Kid Rock closer. The fans are going crazy for Kid Rock’s songs, especially his theme song, my favorite, the Wrestlemania 25 theme song, and a new song which he sanged for us. and I think that song was “In Times Like These”. He also have special features like the Motown Legends and he also sang the “ABC” by the Jackson 5’s, in honor of the late Michael jackson, and he even sang a working class anthem, Born in the USA” by Bruce Spingsteen, and made the crowd up to their feet, especially me. I conclude that this concert is a great success. Kid really rocks, and I will never forget about him doing a concert in our beloved Detroit city. He was totally awesome!

Roar From Coldplay

Coldplay’s performance at East Troy, WI – July 25, 2009 indeed was breathtaking. Their success story has been instrumental till now. Off late they have been compared to bands like MLTR and Roxette. There popular track – “The Escapist” infused passion and energy into the gathered crowd and soon they got everybody in the party mood. Martin displayed his piano skills on the melodious number – “Clocks”. They ended their concert with song – “Yellow”. It was an ideal big show ending. At the start of the track thousands of yellow balloons were introduced within the crowd and people started to cheer even louder.
